No Referrals are Needed for Tricare Dependents and Retirees

No matter what your Tricare plan, if you are a dependent or a retiree, getting a referral is NOT needed when you want to seek counseling. Most therapists who are contracted with Carolina Counseling services ARE Tricare Providers and also offer online counseling!

If you are an Active duty Service Member, you will need a referral or a prior authorization from your PCM for any counseling off post – this includes online counseling.

Finding Your Tricare Provider Online

Another added benefit of online counseling is that you do not have to limit your search to your town. If you are interested in online counseling for the long term, you can seek help from those outside your area. As long as the provider is in the Tricare network, and they are licensed in the state you live in (and will be doing your online sessions in), you can see that therapist.
