No Tricare or Doctor’s Referral needed for Tricare
Dependents and Retirees
Dependents and Retirees
Among occupations in the world, choosing the military service can be very challenging. Not only enhancing a sense of patriotism, gaining status within a community, a steady salary and multiple benefits afforded to you and your family can be a big incentive, such as those offered by Tricare Insurance.
Military life is not only experienced by the Active Duty service member, but by the service member’s family as well. As much as possible, family members travel/move to wherever the service member is assigned, which may be in or outside the US. Spouses and children may be displaced from everything that’s familiar – job, school, family members and peers. This can be very unsettling. Likewise, family members not moving with the service member causes its own problems. Either way, lack of emotional support fuels stress, anxiety, even despair.
What’s in a Name
As a Tricare beneficiary, it is important to know what is being covered by this military health program. This covers spouses, unmarried children under 21 years of age, unmarried and full time students under age 23, even legally adopted step children by a sponsoring spouse. Dependents include those who are qualified and related to the military retiree or an active duty service member (ADSM).
When counseling is available
Dependents and retirees need not add worry about accessibility of mental health counselors off –post. Just make sure you and your family members are properly enrolled and have updated records.
