Self-Harm
Individual Counseling FAQ
What can I expect from counseling?
You can expect a friendly, helpful therapist who will assist you in resolving your concerns and reducing your symptoms.
How long does therapy take?
Everyone is unique. There is no cookie cutter approach to therapy. Your therapist will work with you to identify your unique goals and create a plan to help you get there. Starting treatment sooner, rather than later, can help you feel better faster.
Are my sessions confidential?
We value your confidentiality. Your private information will be protected within the bounds of ethics and law. Your records will be secured from all unlawful and unauthorized entities, and will be inaccessible to anyone without authority or your knowledge.**
** Please note, exceptions to this are by law, and are the same at any other counseling facility or practice in NC: imminent harm to someone, or suspected child or elder abuse, must be reported to the appropriate authorities.
How do I know if my therapist is right for me?
This is an excellent question and the answer can vary from person to person. Most individuals, however, report that they feel their therapist is right for them when they can be themselves and open up. The more honest you feel you can be with your therapist the more successful therapy can be. If you don’t feel that your therapist is right for you, know that you can always ask to be transferred. No matter how wonderful a provider is, no one is the right counselor for everyone! The right therapist for you is out there, find them with Carolina Counseling Services.
